“Holiday festivities”

ODESSA, Nov. 25, 2013 -- I wanted to let you all know about the upcoming Holiday festivities in the Village.

We will again be holding our annual tree lighting ceremony on Sunday the 8th of December. This year it will coincide with the children's Christmas party held by the Odessa Fire Department. The tree will be lit at the end of the party at approximately 5:45 p.m. We hope to have carolers and free hot chocolate and coffee.

We will also be unveiling a very special surprise for the kids. I was contacted recently by a Mr. Kris Kringle, from the North Pole. He has requested that the Village of Odessa be an official delivery site for letters to Santa! We will have his "Special" mailbox here for the Christmas party and will officially begin accepting letters at that time and will be accepting letters for Santa until the 20th of December.

The special mailbox will be at the Village offices in front of the flagpole until that time and letters can be placed in it at any time. Santa has assured me that he will respond to each and every letter, so be sure to have your return address on the envelope and any helpful hints from the parents inside.

From all of us at the Village offices, we wish you all a very joyous Holliday Season and hope to see you all at the upcoming Christmas tree lighting!
